Our Mission

Mission Statement

"To provide quality affordable housing and supportive services that promote self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life for residents of Huntsville, Alabama."

The Huntsville Housing Authority (HHA) is a public housing agency that provides affordable housing to low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities in Huntsville, Alabama. We are committed to creating safe, decent, and sanitary living environments while helping residents achieve economic independence.

Since our establishment in 1940, we have been dedicated to serving the housing needs of our community. We manage over 1,200 public housing units and administer the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program, which assists additional families in finding quality housing in the private market.

What We Do

Our agency operates several key programs designed to address the diverse housing needs of low-income residents:

  • Public Housing: We own and manage affordable rental housing communities throughout Huntsville.
  • Section 8 Vouchers: We help families afford decent housing in the private rental market.
  • Family Self-Sufficiency: We provide programs to help residents achieve economic independence.
  • Resident Services: We connect residents with education, job training, and social services.

We work closely with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to ensure compliance with federal regulations while maximizing the impact of our programs in the local community.
